Overview of Double-Flanged & Top-Hat Style Pallet Supports
Double-Flanged Pallet Support: This is a structural component designed to secure pallets on a pallet rack system, often used in conjunction with pallet rack wire decking.
- Shape: The pallet support is made from a flat piece of material that is folded inward at four corners to create a box-like shape, leaving the bottom open.
- Attachment: The ends of the support are designed to fit snugly over the top of two horizontal beams—one at the front and one at the rear of the pallet rack. These beams form part of the rack structure, which may also include pallet rack wire decking for additional support and safety.
- Securing the Support: The folded (flanged) sections at the ends of the pallet support have holes punched in them. These holes are for placing Tek screws, which are driven through the support and into the beams. This ensures that the pallet support is securely fixed in place, preventing any movement or shifting on the beams.
The Top-Hat Style Support: This is another type of pallet support designed for use with rack systems. Top-Hat Style Support uses a distinct outward-folded design, providing a secure fit against the inside step of the beam and allowing for easy attachment with screws. The flush alignment with the front and rear beams enhances the stability and functionality of the pallet rack system.
- Shape: The support also has four distinct corners, but instead of folding inward like the double-flanged support, the bottom edge is folded outward. This leaves the bottom fully open.
- Attachment: The support is designed to fit flush against the inside step portion of the rack beam. The bottom flared section of the support rests on the inside step of the rack’s step beam. This design helps align the support securely with the beam.
- Securing the Support: The outward-folded bottom edge has holes punched in it to allow for the insertion of Tek screws. These screws are used to secure the support to the beam, preventing it from moving or shifting once in place.
- Flush Fit: Once attached, the top of the support is flush with both the front and rear beams of the rack, creating a clean and stable connection that adds to the overall strength of the rack system.

- Important Note: Pallet supports do not affect the load capacities specified by the rack manufacturers. They are designed to add support to the pallets and enhance the system's stability, workability, and safety. Load capacities are determined by the rack configuration and beam type.

Pallet rack supports and pallet support bars strengthen the stability of storage racks. Pallet supports secure the pallets to the beams, while pallet support bars add horizontal reinforcement across the beams, ensuring pallets stay securely in place.
Angle Decking: When paired with pallet support bars, angle decking creates a secure surface for pallets, evenly distributing the load.
Internal Flush Decking: In this configuration, pallet support bars enhance stability by preventing pallet shifting or tilting, especially with lighter or smaller pallets.
GALVA-DECK: Elevate your rack system with GALVA-DECK! By adding pallet rack support bars, you further enhance the stability of both angle and flush decking systems, providing superior support for your pallets.
Note: Combining pallet supports with structural wire mesh offers the benefits of both—improved load distribution and stability from the supports, and strength and visibility from the wire decking. This creates a stronger, more rigid, and versatile system.
